REGIONAL BREAKDOWN: 53 new positive Covid-19 cases across Scotland in past 24 hours including three in Grampian

A further 53 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

The latest figures from the Scottish Government show the total of confirmed cases since the pandemic began is now 15,471.

A total of 116,848 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs to date. Of these, 101,377 were confirmed negative.

Of the people who have tested positive, 12 were in hospital last night. A total of 20 of whom were in intensive care. There are also 14 people in intensive care with suspected Covid-19.

Nicola Sturgeon said at today’s daily briefing a further 12 people have died after testing positive for the virus – taking the country’s death toll to 2,375.

The latest update also shows 3,721 inpatients have been discharged from hospital since March 5.

A regional breakdown of the figures shows there have been a further three cases recorded in the Grampian area, taking the region’s total to 1,281. There are 64 people in hospital being treated for a confirmed case of coronavirus.

There have been no new cases recorded in the past 24 hours in the north of Scotland.

The total positive cases recorded in the Highlands since the pandemic began is 338, 54 on Shetland, eight on Orkney and six in the Western Isles.

Ten people are in hospital in the Highlands after testing positive for the disease.
