The Scottish campaign to keep Britain in the EU is marking 100 days until the referendum with a fresh bid to make the “positive” case for membership.
Scotland Stronger in Europe will launch a new leaflet in Glasgow today outlining the “practical benefits” of remaining in the 27-member union.
Polls have consistently shown a significant majority of Scots favour remaining in the EU, although the chairwoman of the campaign Mona Siddiqui has insisted they are “taking nothing for granted”.
A UK-wide vote on whether to remain in the EU will be held on June 23.
Ms Siddiqui said: “Being in Europe is a great deal for people in Scotland – that is our positive message as we mark 100 days to go to the referendum.
“There are many gains of being in Europe, stretching right across Scottish society – lower prices and benefits for families, workers’ rights, boosting business, freedoms for pensioners, opportunities for young people, and cheaper holiday costs.
“Our non-party campaign is focused on these practical and positive benefits that we believe will resonate with people throughout Scotland over the next 100 days, bridging other political disagreements.
“The ‘Stronger In’ campaign can bring people together in Scotland.
“We take nothing for granted, but our message has broad appeal – and a big ‘Remain’ vote in Scotland could make the difference in determining the UK-wide result.”
Some senior figures in the Conservative party, including Boris Johnson and Michael Gove, have argued in favour of leaving the EU.
All major party leaders in Scotland, except Ukip’s David Coburn, have said they will campaign for Britain to remain in the EU.
