IN FULL: Scottish results from General Election 2017

Post Thumbnail

Voters went to the polls today in a general election that could saw numerous seats change hands north of the border.

While the nationalists remain the largest party in Scotland, they were unable to match their landslide success at the 2015 General Election.

Dropping from 56 seats to 35, the SNP suffered heavily in the north-east, losing big names including former first minister Alex Salmond and Angus Robertson.

The Conservatives achieved their best result in Scotland for three decades while Labour and Liberal Democrats both performed better than expected.

Jamie Stone took back the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross seat from the SNP while Alistair Carmichael was re-elected for Shetland and Orkney.

Analyse all the results with our live graphs:

The Conservatives are aiming to make gains in areas including the Borders and the north-east – with the SNP’s depute leader Angus Robertson in Moray among the big hitters the party hopes to topple.

Labour will be focused on holding on to the party’s only Scottish MP Ian Murray in Edinburgh South but are also hopeful of capitalising on a surge in polling support to gain East Lothian.

Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats are targeting several key seats including Edinburgh West and East Dunbartonshire, and Greens co-convener Patrick Harvie will be hoping to become the next MP for Glasgow North.

Polling stations will close at 10pm with the results expected from the early hours of Friday.
