‘A funny, happy little boy… so full of life’ — Tributes to Kane, 10, after tragic death in Coupar Angus

Tributes have been paid to a boy who died in a horrific incident in Coupar Angus in the early hours of Sunday.

Kane Morris, 10, was found dead at the property in Union Street at around 2.30am on Sunday. An eight-year-old girl was also rushed to Ninewells Hospital with life threatening injuries.

A 37-year-old man was found seriously injured outside the property after it is understood he fell from a second floor window.

He was arrested and is understood to be under police guard in hospital today.

Floral tributes and teddy bears were left in tribute to Kane as his classmates returned to Coupar Angus Primary School.

A bunch of roses and lilies were laid with a handwritten note that read: “To Kane. I will remember you and I miss you.”

One of his former teachers said: “He had a wicked sense of humour – he was such a funny, happy little boy.

“I only taught him for a short time but he just stands out so much – he was the kind of boy that made a mark on you.

“It is so horrible to think he’s gone.”

Another of his former teachers told Radio Tay News: “One of the keenest pupils was Kane.

“He was just so full of life and keen to learn and there was always a mischievous smile on his face.

“And he really did love life. He lived it to the most and he was such an eager, keen little boy.”

Friends, family and members of the wider community paid tribute to Kane on social media, with dozens changing their profile pictures to an image of two burning candles to represent the two children.

Local resident John Galliano said: “The town is very subdued today.

“What has happened is shocking. Nobody can take it in.”

Another local added: “We are just praying the girl makes it.”
