The man accused of killing Irish student Karen Buckley made a second appearance in court this afternoon.
Alexander Pacteau, 21, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a second private hearing, he made no plea and was remanded in custody.
On April 17 he was charged with the murder of the nursing student and attempting to defeat the ends of justice
Pacteau is alleged to have attacked the 24-year-old with a spanner and strangled her before covering her body in “corrosive substances” and putting her in a barrel.
Buckley, 24, disappeared from the Sanctuary nightclub, in Glasgow’s west end, in the early hours of April 12.
After a massive search was launched, police found her body on a farm six miles north of the city.
No further court dates have been set but a spokesman for the Crown Office confirmed: “Alexander Pacteau, 21, from Glasgow, made a second appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court today charged with the murder of Karen Buckley, and with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
“He made no plea or declaration and was fully committed and remanded in custody.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage in proceedings.”
