Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision in Kirkcaldy.

The incident happened around 2.55 p.m. on Monday 4th April on the A92, north of the Redhouse Roundabout.

A Ford Focus car was involved in a collision with an Iveco lorry in lane one of the carriageway resulting in majority of the occupants of the car sustaining serious injuries.

As a result, an 8-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 36-year-old female driver is currently in a critical condition at the Victoria Hospital.

A 9-year-old boy, who was also a passenger within the Focus, sustained serious injuries to his face and is being treated in hospital.

The driver of the lorry and a 36-year-old male passenger from the car were not injured during the collision.

Road Policing Officers responded to the scene and closed the road for seven hours while they conducted their inquiries.

Anyone with information that can assist police with this ongoing investigation is asked to come forward.

Inspector Brenda Sinclair from the Road Policing Unit said: “Tragically this collision has resulted in the death of a young boy, while the driver and another child also sustained very serious injuries.

“We are still trying to establish exactly what happened and I would ask any motorists who were on the A92 on Monday afternoon and who witnessed this incident to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who with any further information relevant to this inquiry should also get in touch.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
