Two teenagers dead after crash on Highland road

Two teenagers have were killed in a crash on a on a rural Highland road last night.

Police Scotland confirmed that two people died at following a serious road traffic collision on the B9006 near Sunnyside, Inverness at 6.50pm yesterday evening (Thursday, March 24).

The road was closed last night whilst officers carried out an investigation into the collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa car and a white Mercedes C Class car.

A 16 year old female passenger in the Vauxhall car died at the scene and three other occupants of the Vauxhall car were taken to Raigmore Hospital where an 18 year old male passenger died of his injuries.

The 19 year old male driver of the Corsa and and a further 16 year old female passenger remain in Raigmore Hospital where they continue to receive treatment for serious injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Mercedes car were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and later discharged with no serious injuries.

The road was closed for some time to allow collision investigation work to be carried out. The road has since re-opened.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and officers appeal to anyone who was travelling on the B9006 before or at the time of the collision and who may have seen either vehicle, to contact Police Scotland on 101.
