North-east traffic meltdown…if you were late this morning, this is probably why

Commuters were tested to their limits across the North-east this morning.

Here’s a round up of why the day got off to a congested start.

The road was blocked after a two-car crash on the A90 northbound at the Charleston flyover.

The crash happened just after 9.30am  and involved a red citeron Zara estate and a red Mitsubishi L200.

No injuries were reported but police are warning of delays for motorists.

Reports of flooding were coming in from the  A90 Aberdeenshire Westbound between B9033 Crimonmogate and A952 Rathen is reporting hazardous driving conditions due to flooding.

Concerned motorists called in to highlight how congested The Parkway Bridge of Don and B997 Balgownie Road were.

There was very slow traffic on A956 Ellon Road in both directions.

There were also reports of hazardous driving conditions on the A90 between the B966 Drumlithie and the A937 Laurencekirk southbound was badly hit by flooding and fog.

Traffic light failure also caused areas of Aberdeen city centre to grind to a halt. 

Westburn road and Guild street both had lights out.
