Balmedie
Riders take a trip along the sands from Balmedie to Newburgh and back in a sponsored ride which raised £420 for the Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in 1983. The event in which 30 children and adults took part, was organised by Gillian MacKenzie, of Kingswells, a committee member of the RSSPCC’s Grampian branch and leader of the Grampian Pleasure Riding Group.
Kincorth
Aberdeen’s first municipal squash venue, at Kincorth, was opened in 1989. Some of the players who tried out the new courts were Wendy Maitland, Billy Gerrard – junior convener of Grampian Squash Racquets Association – Peter Nicol, Scott Wilson, Jonathan Masterton and Tracy Maitland.
Aberdeen FC

King Street Bus Depot
Young Harry Forrest of Cruden Bay had a full compliment of passengers as he took the wheel of the children’s fun bus at Grampian Transport’s Open Day in 1987. The event was held at the company’s King Street depot in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Joint Station
A big day for train spotters at Aberdeen Joint Station in October 1966, as the last of the famous A4 Pacific class engines, the Bittern, arrives on its final run.
Seaton
Clowns of Gerry Cottle’s Circus, Garry, left, and Noe Noe, entertain the children of Seaton Tenants’ Association who were treated to a visit to the Big Top in July 1978.
Northfield
Members of Aberdeen’s Northfield Academy Biology Club won the National Trust for Scotland Heritage Trophy for their conservation project at Drum Oakwood in 1986. The Northfield project was masterminded by Dr Richard Marriott, head of the biology department and carried out over a period of six years.
Bridge of Don

Torry Bridge
After a ferry disaster in 1876, in which 32 people died, Victoria Bridge was completed in 1881. A plaque on the bridge notes the disaster, which occurred in the harbour navigation channel between Torry and Footdee. This photo dates from 1979.
