This week’s gallery has taken a turn to the furry side. Instead of our usual historical shots of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, we’re taking time out to appreciate some of our favourite feline friends.

This week’s gallery has taken a turn to the furry side.

Instead of our usual historical shots of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, we’re taking time out to appreciate some of our favourite feline friends.

1988: Newly-weds Gordon and Laura Duguid entered Fergie, a seven-month-old tortoiseshell for the show.
1986: An overjoyed Aberdeen animal lover has been reunited with her ailing moggie - thanks to Evening Express readers. Minush, the one-eyed black cat, went missing last week just hours before an emergency operation and EE readers were put on the alert.
1984: Handsome cat, Smokey, pet of Mrs Sandra Morrice, 1 Jesmond Avenue, Bridge of Don, knows what keeps him sleek and adorable, so he doesn't always wait until official meal times. Sometimes he helps himself to a small snack on the sly. Beats raking through a smelly dustbin!
1986: Joy Mennie with her cat Kizzy, first in the cats section at Cove Bay Gala pets parade.
1993: A stray moggie found on an Aberdeen doorstep has come within a whisker of becoming a national champ. Three-year-old Leonardo took the runner-up spot in the Scottish finals of the Spillar's Arthur Household Pet of the Year Show.
1982: The story of Volvo the stowaway kitten has fired the imagination of Miss Jean Corrigall and her pupils at Gordon Primary School, Huntly.

1989: Floor manager at Grampian Television Marlyn Barr tries to settle Lucy the chocolate point Siamese being used in the advert.
1989: Cat lovers Sam Toher and Dave Young look in the engine compartment of their car to see where their stowaway kitten Pooh had hidden.
1979: Space hero Flash Gordon would have been proud of his Westhill namesake. For Flash mark two - a black and white cat - is the pride of her owners, Alzira and Anthony Odone, 59 Arnhall Drive. Flash turned Good Samaritan when she found her fledging in the back garden. Most cats would have jumped at the chance of an unexpected meal, but Flash gallantly carried each of the four new-born chicks into the house unharmed

1979: Milky the cat is a proud and doting mother who is in for the shock of her life. For the lovable black bundle of fluff she has been weaning and showering with affection for the past two weeks is a puppy! No ordinary pup, of course, but a pure bred Labrador of the highest breeding.

1990: Dozy Zoe thought she had found the perfect place for a catnap. But her forty winks on a comfy couch turn up in a bad dream when she ended up 350 miles away in England. For the motorway moggie had stowed away in a Shore Porters furniture van fitting neighbours from Aberdeen to Manchester.
1989: Jelly the climbing cat threw a wobbly when rescuers tried to pluck her to safety from a 60ft high perch. But the lucky black cat literally landed on her feet, and was soon purring in the arms of her doting Aberdeen owner after plunging unhurt to the ground.
1980: Security guards at an oil pipeyard on the outskirts of Aberdeen have a four-legged friend who goes on patrol with them.
