The NorthLink Ferries team, who raised £7,000 for the Archie Foundation at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, have been recognised in the Scottish Parliament.

The staff of NorthLink Ferries team took part in sponsored walks and abseils to hand £7,072.35 over to the charity.

Archie – the official charity of the sick kids’ hospital – will be able to continue to provide specialist equipment and staff, create a welcoming hospital environment for families and provide accommodation for parents that need it.

North East MSP Tom Mason tabled a motion congratulating the staff for their efforts.

He said: “Archie support the young patients at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and their families when they need it most.

“Their work is a comfort to so many people each year, and I’d like to thank NorthLink staff for this vital fundraising.”

Highlights from the past year include supervisors Claire Sweetin and Kathryn Fullerton abseiling down the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and six staff members undertaking a virtual walking challenge, which saw them strive to complete 13,500 steps a day to reach a 175-mile target.
