McIntyre aiming to silence Tynecastle crowd

Ross County face Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday.

Ross County succeeded in frustrating a big Ibrox crowd last week and manager Jim McIntyre is urging more of the same from his Staggies today when they face Hearts at Tynecastle.

County secured a point from their first trip to Govan in their 87-year history last Saturday, drawing 0-0 against Rangers, whose supporters booed the Light Blues off the park at full time.

The Jambos are likely to be backed by a big home following in Edinburgh today and McIntyre wants his side to turn the crowd against Robbie Neilson’s side.

McIntyre said: “Tynecastle is a place I certainly enjoyed going to. The supporters are right on top of the players and it’s a good surface.

“It’s a place we want to go to and test ourselves and, like any full house, which it probably will be, we want to turn them against the home team.

“They can be like a 12th man at times when it is going well. Hearts are strong at home and we have to match that.

“We will certainly go there and embrace it. We certainly won’t fear it. These are the types of game we want to play in.”

Hearts are second in the Premiership and McIntyre reckons they will maintain their position at the top end of the table throughout the campaign, adding: “I’m looking at Hearts potentially for top three. Robbie has amassed a very good squad. They have a great mixture of young experienced players, with strength, height and quality.

“They also have that pace in the wider areas in both Jamie Walker and Sam Nicholson who can really hurt teams.

“They have good options up front. Tony Watt has been a very good signing – he’s a clever player who has done really well this season.

“Adding these things together, it gives them a very good side.”
