Aberdeen eased to a 4-0 victory against 10-man Ross County to stretch their winning run to five matches.

Jonny Hayes opened the scoring for the Dons on 20 minutes before the Staggies were reduced to 10 men a minute later when Tim Chow was sent off for a late challenge on the Irishman.

Shay Logan tapped home the second for the hosts after 32 minutes before Niall McGinn added another midway through the second half.

Substitute Jayden Stockley netted a fourth with 12 minutes remaining to complete the scoring.

Unsurprisingly, Aberdeen stuck with the same side that started the 4-0 win at Kilmarnock before the international break.

Ross County, searching for a first victory since the middle of August, made four alterations with Andrew Davies, Chow, Craig Curran and Ian McShane replacing Jay McEveley, Christopher Routis, Greg Morrison and Liam Boyce.

The Dons were forced into an early change when Ash Taylor limped off after six minutes and was replaced by Mark Reynolds.

Kenny McLean gifted Ross County an early chance to test Joe Lewis in the Aberdeen goal with some sloppy play but Craig Curran’s tame effort was easily stopped.

The Dons had the ball in the net after 13 minutes when Adam Rooney headed home a James Maddison free kick but the goal was ruled out for an offside decision.

But the hosts broke the deadlock seven minutes later when Hayes cut inside from the left before unleashing a powerful drive that deflected off Marcus Fraser on its way into the back of the net.

It got much worse for the Staggies only a minute later when Chow was sent off for a reckless challenge on Hayes, leaving his side to play the final 69 minutes with a numerical disadvantage.

The Dons went close to extending their lead soon after when a Maddison corner fell perfectly for Rooney but his downward header was clawed away by Scott Fox.

It was only a matter of time before Aberdeen got a second and it arrived after 32 minutes when Fox failed to hold a Graeme Shinnie drive and Logan was perfectly placed to tap home the rebound.

The Reds almost grabbed a third four minutes before the break when a well-struck free kick from Hayes was tipped onto the crossbar by the overworked Fox.

Ross County were inches away from pulling one back on the stroke of half time with Michael Gardyne unfortunate to see his effort bounce back off the crossbar.

Aberdeen extended their advantage after 68 minutes when Logan picked out McGinn, who showed neat composure inside the penalty area to sidestep a County defender before smashing the ball beyond Fox.

With Ross County starting to tire, the Dons scored a fourth 10 minutes later when substitute Jayden Stockley netted from a tight angle with the aid of the post.
