Ross County manager Owen Coyle expects speculation over Rangers’ search for a new manager will continue to take the majority of the focus ahead of his side’s visit to Ibrox on Saturday.
The Gers have been searching for a new boss since the sacking of Pedro Caixinha on October 26, with Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes the frontrunner to take over. Ibrox chairman Dave King is expected to approach the Dons this week.
Graeme Murty has taken interim charge of Rangers in recent weeks, guiding the Glasgow club to back-to-back victories over McInnes’ Aberdeen within the space of five days.
Coyle is preparing to face Murty until the situation changes but knows talk over McInnes’ future will continue to dominate, and he said: “Ultimately, it’s all speculation. The only people that know what’s involved in it are the people in the conversations that have taken place.
“When you’ve got such a huge club, there’s going to be intense speculation and a lot of people linked with it.
“When all said and done it’s a very prestigious job. You can understand the media culation is going to be intense because of the size of the club, and everything that club has been through.
“Hopefully people are not affected by it but it’s only natural that speculation will continue until that final appointment is made and they get their man.”
Coyle has been impressed by Murty, who is in his second spell as interim boss having previously been in charge prior to the appointment of Caixinha in March.
The Staggies manager added: “There has been a lot of talk, as there has for four or five weeks now.
“I’ve got to say, all credit to Graeme Murty through that. He has come across very well.
“I can tell he’s a very good football man with an understanding of the game, and I think you only have to look at the reaction he got.
“They obviously fell below the Glasgow Rangers standard in the two games they lost at home to Hamilton and away to Dundee.
“Graeme has picked them up again and got them going, so he deserves enormous credit for the way he has conducted himself and steadied the ship through the change.
“He has shown he has got very good qualities that lead to him having a very good coaching and management career.”
