A six-way tie for the lead was the highlight of the opening day of the Scottish Six Days Trial in Fort William.
Jack Price, Gary Macdonald, Tom Minta, James Dabill, Sam Connor and Andrew Chilton all emerged from the first stage without a blemish against their name, heading into day two today.
Monday’s section took riders through Bradilieg and Loch Eilde Mhor, with a break before tackling Garbh Bhein and Cameron Hill on the way to Lagnaha.
Defending champion Dougie Lampkin is joint-seventh with Joe Baker, getting his only mark of the day at Garbh Bhein when his wheel skipped offline.
Women’s trial world champion Emma Bristow heads the female category with a healthy 26-point advantage over Sandra Gomez.
Today sees competitors take the first trip on the Corran ferry of the week. They go through Inversanda across to Strontian, up towards Polloch and along the shores of Loch Shiel. A right turn at Glenfinnan heads them towards Muirshearlich, before descending for home.
Wednesday’s route will be a 77-miler heading south from Fort William to Appin, taking in Glen Muckrach on the way to the finish at Bealach.
