Blair Spittal admits the hardest part of settling in to life at Ross County was singing Westlife at his initiation but feels he has been flying without wings ever since.
The 23-year-old winger joined the Staggies from Partick Thistle on a two-year deal last month and has made an immediate impression with the Staggies.
He provided an assist in Saturday’s 4-1 victory against Montrose in the Betfred Cup before coming off the bench to score County’s final goal in a 4-0 win at Brechin on Tuesday.
Spittal is relishing life at County, who top Betfred Cup Group B ahead of Sunday’s trip to St Johnstone.
He said: “It has been easy to settle in. The boys have been very welcoming.
“I feel I have fitted in well over the first two games and made an impact.
“Hopefully I can do more of the same and get a bit of consistency.
“The trip to Holland was very positive.
“We went away and worked hard on our fitness.
“It was also beneficial for settling in with the boys.
“I had to do my initiation which wasn’t great fun but you have to do these things as it is an ice-breaker.
“I sung a bit of Westlife and tried to get the crowd going.
“I thought it was well received.
“I followed Nathan Baxter and he was rubbish so it wasn’t that hard an act to follow.”
St Johnstone will be desperate to make amends at McDiarmid Park on Sunday after a surprise 1-0 defeat by Montrose on Tuesday.
Spittal expects a stern test against Tommy Wright’s side but feels County can head into the match with plenty of confidence.
He said: “We played well against Brechin.
“When you play against lower league opposition you have got to be professional and we managed to do that.
“Our attitude was spot on.
“We know what to expect against St Johnstone.
“It will be tough against Premiership opposition but if we can sharpen up on a few things and take the momentum that we have built up then we can cause them problems.”
Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson says the club are working hard to sign a new goalkeeper with loan signing Nathan Baxter facing four months on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.
He said: “We are actively looking to bring in another goalkeeper with Nathan picking up the injury.
“That is a process and it never happens as quick as you would like it to happen.
“I’m sure we will have somebody in to cover Nathan before we go into the first league game.
“We are looking forward to playing St Johnstone.
“It is a different type of challenge.
“Hopefully we apply ourselves in the same way we have over the past two games.
“We have good strength and depth and competition for places in every position, which is pleasing.”
