Ross County came from behind to defeat Dunfermline 2-1 to retain their three-point advantage at the top of the Championship.
The Staggies had fallen behind at East End Park courtesy of on-loan Aberdeen forward Bruce Anderson’s first half goal, however strikes from Billy Mckay and Michael Gardyne after the interval sealed the points for the Dingwall men.
County made one change from the side which defeated Alloa Athletic 2-0 the previous weekend, with the injured Sean Kelly replaced by Callum Semple who was drafted in for his first start.
The Staggies created the first chance of the match, with Brian Graham’s header from a Kenny van der Weg palmed away by Ryan Scully on five minutes.
On-loan Dons attacker Anderson was lively in the opening stages, with no fewer than three opportunities before his breakthrough, the best of which arrived on 24 minutes when he got past Semple but was unable to beat Scott Fox with a weak finish.
Anderson’s time did come on 41 minutes however, when he latched on to a through ball from Faissal El Bakhtaoui before tucking low past Fox with a composed finish.
County took just six minutes of the second half to restore parity however, with Mckay turning home Ross Draper’s deflected shot amidst loud appeals for offside from the home defence.
Graham saw a close-range effort cleared off the line by James Craigen, while Mckay had another effort ruled out for offside following a Jamie Lindsay square ball, as the Staggies chased a winner.
It arrived on 77 minutes, as Kenny van der Weg fed substitute Gardyne, who composed himself before blasting an excellent effort high into the net past Scully to secure the victory.
