Transfer Deadline Day: Latest

Monaco's Radamel Falcao could be set for a loan move to Manchester United
Monaco's Radamel Falcao could be set for a loan move to Manchester United

The window has officially closed but both Manchester United and Arsenal are into extra-time as they try to complete deadline day deals.

United, who have been spending big all month, have agreed a loan deal for Monaco’s Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, taking the club’s spending this summer to the £150 million mark.

Monaco are understood to have been seeking a fee of £12million for a one-year loan deal for Falcao who will reportedly be paid a staggering £346,000 per week.

United have cleared room for Falcao’s arrival by sending Javier Hernandez on loan to European champions Real Madrid on a season long loan while Danny Blind has completed his move to Old Trafford from Ajax.

Arsenal are also closing in on United attacker Danny Welbeck in a reported £16million deal but don’t expect an announcement until after midnight as the Gunners have asked for an extension.

Liverpool have accepted QPR’s £10million offer for striker Fabio Borini, but no announcement has been forthcoming while Oussama Assaidi has joined Stoke City on loan.

The first confirmed move of the day was at Aston Villa where Karim El Ahmadi has rejoined Feyenoord on a three-year deal.

The midfielder had been linked with a return to De Kuip – where he played between 2008 and 2012.

In Scotland, Aberdeen midfielder Joe Shaughnessy has joined Falkirk on loan until January.

Ross County caretaker manager Stevie Ferguson has completed the loan signing of former Staggie Michael Gardyne and has added former Hearts and Kilmarnock defender Darren Barr, who was a free agent, to his squad.

Rounding off the new arrivals at Victoria Park is Celtic midfielder Jackson Irvine, who has joined the club on loan for the rest of the season.

Stefan Scepovic has a lot of grovelling to do if he is win over the Celtic support after completing his on, off, on again move to Scotland.

The Sporting Gijon striker pulled out of a move on Sunday in favour of staying in Spain. It seemed he was set to join Getafe, only for that move to collapse. In an embarrassing about-face, the forward ended up in Glasgow after all.

The 24-year-old Serbia international has agreed a four-year deal with the Scottish champions, who had arranged a medical and work permit for him over the weekend.

The Hoops are also close to agreeing a loan deal for Manchester City striker John Guidetti. The 22-year-old Swede spent last year on loan at Stoke.

There has been movement out of Celtic Park with Dylan McGeouch joining Hibernian on loan while Amido Balde has joined Belgian club Waasland-Beveren. Another Hoops player, Icelandic forward Holmbert Fridjonsson, has joined Brondby on loan with the Danish club having an option to make the move permanent.

Rounding off the exodus from Celtic Park is Teemu Pukki, who has also joined Brondby.
