The average price of the cheapest match-day ticket in Scottish football’s top flight has increased by almost 8% in the last three years.

The BBC Sport Price of Football study found the average has gone from £18.92 to £20.42.

League 2 champions Peterhead proudly offer the cheapest season ticket across the four divisions of Scottish football at £90, comfortably beating all top five divisions in England, too. The Blue Toon also charge the least for a match-day ticket at £6. The most expensive season ticket is sold by Celtic at £600.

While Scottish football supporters struggle to support their clubs, the cost of following clubs in England shows no sign of slowing, with the average price of the cheapest tickets across English football having risen at almost twice the rate of the cost of living since 2011.

The average price of the cheapest match day ticket from the English Premier League to League 2 has increased 13%, compared to a 6.8% increase in the cost of living during that time.

In the English Premier League, the increase is 15.8%, while it is 31.7% in League 1 and 19% in League 2. In the Championship, the average price has dropped 3.2%.

Arsenal have the most expensive match-day ticket in the Premier League at £97 but that represents a reduction of £29 from their most expensive ticket last year at £126.

Chelsea’s cheapest match-day ticket is £50. Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday’s £10 match-day ticket is the cheapest in the top four leagues in England – only matched by Southport in the Conference.

Arsenal have the most expensive season ticket in the Premier League at £2,013. Their cheapest season ticket is £1,014, the most costly in the Premier League.

The cheapest season ticket at Arsenal is £1,014.

That is more expensive than the top-priced season ticket at 17 Premier League clubs. The only exceptions are Tottenham Hotspur (£1,895) and Chelsea (£1,250).

Premier League champions Manchester City have the cheapest season ticket in the division at £299.

The study also covered food and drink at matches with English Conference side Kidderminster Harriers charging the most for a pie – fans need to pay £4.50 for their award-winning meat and pastry treat.
