Ross County midfielder Filip Kiss refuses to be daunted by the challenge facing his side when they take on champions Celtic at Parkhead today.

County fell five points adrift of Motherwell in the 11th-place relegation play-off spot following their 1-0 defeat against Hamilton Accies on Saturday.

Kiss is in his second loan spell with the Staggies, having rejoined from Cardiff City in the summer after initially enjoying a successful stint in the second half of last season.

During his first spell, the Slovakian was part of a side which claimed a 1-1 draw at Parkhead in March.

Only eight of that day’s full squad remain with the club, and despite their lowly league position Kiss is confident in the current team’s ability to take something from today’s match.

Kiss said: “I remember going there last season well.

“I will always remember the atmosphere and everything surrounding the match.

“That gives me confidence we can do it again. We have that ability in the team.

“We saw what Dundee United did in beating Celtic 2-1 last weekend, but Celtic will be eager to bounce back with a good result against us.

“But we are going to try to make it very tough for them.”

Kiss’ career has gathered momentum since first joining County midway through last season, having made seven appearances for Slovakia since making his international debut in a 3-1 friendly win against Israel in March.

The Staggies occupy the same position as they did when Kiss first arrived midway through last season, and the 24-year-old remains optimistic his side can match their previous efforts and beat the drop a second year running.

Kiss added: “We went through it last season and, thankfully, came good in the latter part of the season and pulled away from the bottom area of the table.

“Without a doubt, I think that experience will help me in the challenge ahead.

“Every bit of experience I pick up is beneficial, including the international games I have played.

“These games have made me much stronger and more experienced and I’m ready to deliver in the same way as I did last season when I first came in January.

“We were in a similar position and we did really well. I’m confident I, and all the team, can do that again.”
