Ross County face competition in their bid to sign Queen of the South defender Mark Durnan.

Staggies manager Jim McIntyre has already made one signing from his former club this summer, following the transfer of midfielder Ian McShane, and is eager to add Durnan to the fold.

But County is not the only club which wants Durnan with Dundee United and Motherwell also seeking defensive reinforcements for next season.

Queens have already lost four players since the season ended with Danny Carmichael joining Hibs, Kevin Holt moving to Dundee while Gavin Reilly is set for a move to Championship winners Hearts.

Queens manager James Fowler is eager to keep Durnan at Palmerston Park and has warned potential admirers they will have to pay a fee.

Fowler said: “There has been a lot of interest in the squad that did so well last season and that is the price of success.

“We aware there are clubs keen on Mark so have to wait and see what happens. He is only 22 so any move would of course trigger a development fee.”

Meanwhile, County have confirmed they will be heading to Hungary for a pre-season tour next month. Staggies manager McIntyre will base his players at a training camp seven miles from Budapest.

County have also confirmed CRC Evans will continue as shirt sponsor for next season with club parading its new kit later this month.

The Staggies will revert to a white away strip for the new campaign.
