After a nightmarish journey — weather, buses and drones all conspiring to delay them — The Press and Journal’s Jamie Durent and Evening Express’ Sean Wallace are in Dubai with the Dons.
They reflect on Aberdeen’s first day of training at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence.
There was good news for the Dons as Gary Mackay-Steven returned to training following the head injury he suffered during last month’s Betfred Cup final defeat by Celtic. Defenders Tommie Hoban and Mark Reynolds were also back training following shoulder and knee injuries.
One player who didn’t make the trip to Dubai was Greg Tansey after his contract was terminated by the Dons.
The 30-year-old has since joined St Mirren on an 18-month deal, and the pair discuss his time at Pittodrie.
