Aleksandar Tonev dropped from Celtic squad to face Aberdeen

Celtic have not named race row winger Aleksandar Tonev in their squad to take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie this afternoon.

The 24-year-old Bulgarian was banned for seven matches for racially abusing Aberdeen defender Shay Logan but Celtic have appealed the decision, meaning he was available for today’s match, however, Hoops boss Ronny Deila has opted against naming him in his pool of players for today’s match which kicks off at 12.30pm.

The incident with Logan happened when the teams met on September 13 and Tonev was given the punishment last month, however since then the club have stood by the Aston Villa loanee.
