Hopefully Aberdeen can secure exciting teenage midfielder Connor Barron on an extended contract.
I was delighted to hear the Reds have already opened up talks with the 19-year-old in a bid to get him to sign a longer deal.
Barron signed a new contract extension in January until summer 2024 just days after being recalled from a loan spell at Kelty Hearts.
However, since signing that deal he has become one of the hottest young prospects in Scottish football.
Aberdeen are right to move quickly to try to get him tied down on a longer deal.
If the teen signs a new contract it will maximise Aberdeen’s return if he is eventually sold on in the future.
However I’m sure the Reds will be in no rush to sell the teen who has so much potential and will only get better and better.
Barron can be a pivotal part of manager Jim Goodwin’s squad in the new season and beyond.
Since making his first team debut in January the teen midfielder has enjoyed a meteoric rise.
He is a regular first team starter under Jim Goodwin and a Scotland U21 international.
Barron was shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Now the Pittodrie youngster is reportedly on the radar of Premiership champions Celtic.
The teen produced an impressive performance in a 0-0 Euro U21 qualifier draw against Belgium away from home earlier this month.
That performance alerted a number of Belgian sides including Genk who are also reportedly tracking him.
Now there are reports two Italian Serie A sides are tracking the teen midfielder.
It is inevitable that even more clubs will target the teen if he continues the level of performance shown in his breakout season.
He is already impressing at such a young age and will only get better.
Barron is a good player at the moment but has all the tools to become a great player.
Which is why the Reds are spot on to try to get him to commit to a longer deal.
If he sticks around at Pittodrie for a couple of more seasons both Aberdeen and the teenager will benefit.
Barron will serve his apprenticeship in the Scottish top flight and the Reds will have the services of a key player.
Then in a couple of seasons if he were to move on, and sign a deal, Barron could seal a move to a big club.
The Reds could also cash in.
Barron’s emergence is further proof of the good work being done by Aberdeen’s Youth Academy.
Young players like Barron and Calvin Ramsay are stepping up into the first team ready to make an impact.
Ramsay had a sensational breakout campaign last season that ultimately paved the way for a dream move to Liverpool.
The blueprint of any successful team is to develop talent, get a few seasons out of them in the first team and then sell them for a huge fee.
That worked with Ramsay and could yet be the route for Barron.
However hopefully the teen will commit to a new deal and go on to play for a number of seasons in the Reds’ first team.
Bojan Miovski an exciting signing
It was great to see Aberdeen sign North Macedonian international striker Bojan Miovski on a four year contract.
The Reds beat off competition from a host of clubs to land the striker from Hungarian side MTK Budapest.
Miovski is an established international and played in North Macedonia’s shock World Cup play-off defeat of Euro champions Italy in March.
The new Dons striker scored nine goals in 29 appearances for MTK Budapest in Hungary’s top-flight last season.
More fire power in attack was needed because Aberdeen were far too reliant on Christian Ramirez last season.
Ramirez scored 15 goals for the Dons last season, all from open play, which is a solid return.
However Aberdeen need competition and different options in attack.
Another positive was the capture of centre-backs Anthony Stewart (Wycombe Wanderers) and Liam Scales (Celtic).
Right-back Jayden Richardson was also secured from Nottingham Forest as a replacement for Calvin Ramsay.
Hopefully they can make a difference to a defence that struggled throughout the whole of last season to secure clean sheets.
Teen Ramsay can shine at Liverpool
What a week it has been for teenage right-back Calvin Ramsay who secured the move of a lifetime to Liverpool.
Ramsay’s transfer could be worth up to £8 million for Aberdeen which is great business.
The Dons landed £4.5m upfront with the potential for a further £3.5m in add-ons if certain landmarks are met.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp clearly rates the 18-year-old very highly.
Ramsay has moved to a club with a great reputation for developing young talent.
He has all the talent and potential in the world and I look forward to watching his progress at Anfield.
