‘He is hungry for goals’ – Hungarian football expert on what Aberdeen fans can expect from Bojan Miovski

Aberdeen fans can expect goals and a fighting mentality from their new striker Bojan Miovski.

The Dons have signed the 10-cap North Macedonian international for £535,000 on a four-year deal from MTK Budapest.

Miovski, 23, scored nine goals in 29 appearances for relegated MTK last season.

The striker made 60 appearances during his two seasons at the Hungarian club, scoring 19 times and registering 10 assists in total.

Hungarian sports journalist Áron Aranyossy believes Aberdeen fans can expect Miovksi to keep hitting the goal trail at his new club.

Speaking to The Press and Journal, he said: “I would say Bojan is a poacher or an advanced forward. He is quick with his feet and a good dribbler.

“What I would highlight from his game is the fact he is really hungry for goals.

“He doesn’t overdo things – he would rather do the simple things well and score, than doing fancy things and not scoring.

“He does have his moments and scores some really nice goals, but it’s his consistency and work rate that stands out.

“Bojan is a very professional guy who knows his job is to score goals.

“I think what’s exciting about him is that he looks like a player that focuses on what matters. In his case, that is scoring goals, setting up goals and challenging defenders.

“His contribution is also telling you a story of a team player.

“He is somebody who is involved in a lot of goals. From his average at MTK Budapest, he is getting a goal or an assist every second game.”

Aranyossy reckons the 6ft 2 striker has a physical element to his game which stand him in good stead in the Scottish Premiership.

“He is a player who is not scared to get into duels,” Aranyossy explained.

“He’s not an exceptional header of the ball, but he will always go into the duel in the air or on the ground.

“Maybe he won’t win every single duel, but he’s always up for the challenge. I think that will be really important for him in Scotland.

“He will be a fighter. It’s a pivotal part of his game and his development.”

A player who wants to be successful

Miovski’s character has also been given a glowing report from Aranyossy, who thinks his attitude is one of his biggest attributes.

Aranyossy explained: “He has the mentality of ‘I’m going to fight for it’ and that’s why he was a good fit here at MTK immediately.

“What can excite Aberdeen fans in him, is that he looks like a guy who will fight hard to be successful.

“After a season that Aberdeen has just had, it’s probably good to fill out the squad with players like Miovski, who are willing to put everything on the line.”

Aranyossy reckons Miovski – still in his early 20s – is yet to reach his full potential and believes Aberdeen could be the place where he does just that.

He said: “It’s probably just the beginning for him. I don’t want to hype him up too much because he will have to settle in in Scotland, but I do believe it’s a good fit.

“Aberdeen signed Ylber Ramadani from MTK as well, so it’ll help him going to a club where he already knows someone.

“Miovski wanted to prove himself and he has continued to do that. He’s very consistent in his performance and his work rate, which is good for a player so young.

“Aberdeen is a good place for him to continue his development and fulfil his potential in the long run.”
