Aberdeen made it eight wins in a row as they moved four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a comfortable win against St Mirren.
Two goals in a minute maintained the Dons’ fine run of form as they eased to victory at St Mirren Park.
With the Dons on a seven game winning streak without the loss of a goal it came as no surprise that manager Derek McInnes named an unchanged side for the trip to Paisley although midfielder Willo Flood, who was on the bench last week at Motherwell, failed to make the bench.
Saints caretaker manager Gary Teale made three changes to the side which lost 1-0 at Inverness last weekend with defender Marc McAusland missing out due to injury while midfielder Adam Drury has returned to Manchester City following the completion of his loan spell.
Attacker Steven Thompson was also absent due to a hernia operation. Former Dons duo, midfielders Gregg Wylde and Isaac Osbourne, and attacker Lewis McLear were their replacements.
The home side started brightly with Kenny McLean testing Scott Brown but the Dons had chances of their own, Adam Rooney and Niall McGinn both forcing Saints goalkeeper Mark Ridgers into action.
The Buddies failed to capitalise on their bright opening, however, and it was Aberdeen who took the lead in somewhat fortunate circumstances as McGinn’s curling cross into the box ended up as a wind-assisted shot into the top corner beyond the stranded Saints goalkeeper in the 32d minute.
Within a minute it was 2-0 to the Dons as McGnn set-up Jonny Hayes who crossed to the back post where full back Shay Logan slid in to beat Ridgers.
Ridgers denied McGinn in the second half while Lawrence Shankland struck the crossbar but the Dons were well worth their three points.
