Aberdeen are to seek permission for a late kick-off time for their Pittodrie meeting against Dundee United in order to boost attendance and exposure.

It is understood the Dons’ game against United on November 12 could be switched from 3pm to 6.30pm.

The later kick-off time would allow those normally involved in amateur and juvenile football on a Saturday afternoon to attend the game.

A similar trial was held last season when Aberdeen’s meeting with Dundee at Dens Park kicked off at 6pm on October 16 at the request of both teams to allow for international broadcast and in the hope of “attracting greater audiences and exposure”.

Dundee won the match 2-1 in front of a crowd of 6,876.

Review findings to be revealed

Meanwhile, the findings of a strategic review of the SPFL are expected to be revealed early this week.

Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee United, Hearts and Hibernian, with the endorsement of the SPFL, commissioned Deloitte to carry out a review with a view to unlocking additional revenues for the Scottish game.

One of the aims of the review was to drive the revenue from an annual distribution of £27 million between clubs to £50m within the next five years.

Aberdeen’s match against Dundee United in November could be moved to Saturday evening.

The SPFL is understood to be close to agreeing an extension to its current deal with Sky Sports until 2029.

The current deal, which expires in 2025, allows Sky to film up to a maximum of 48 games per season, while the new deal would allow up to 60 games to be broadcast for a payment of £29.5m per season.

Sky will also have the option of further 10-match bundles at a cost of £4m per season.

Clubs would also have an added incentive of selling up to five of their home matches on a pay-per-view basis if the fixture has not been chosen for live Sky broadcast, providing they received dispensation to switch kick-off times outside the UK blackout window between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays.
