Aberdeen have unveiled their new away kit – but where does the 2025/26 “North Sea kit” rank among the Dons’ previous change strips?
The kit is blue, not black, according to the Pittodrie club, whose official marketing for the strip reads: “Dedicated to the North Sea, our brand-new kit features a North Sea blue base and a distinctive pattern with sand yellow detailing.
“The pattern visible across the front of the shirt is designed to replicate the sun shimmering on its surface at sunrise or sunset.”
On what has inspired the design, Aberdeen’s press release added: “Our 25/26 away kit is a celebration of the North Sea and its profound impact on the lives of so many people, either directly or indirectly, in the rich history of our city.
“Historically, the North Sea has been our protector and provider, enabling the export of iconic goods such as Aberdeen’s renowned granite globally. In the modern era, it has transformed Aberdeen into the energy capital of Europe, and as we look forward to a sustainable future, its influence continues to be felt.”
Is the “The North Sea kit” – on sale now – Aberdeen’s best away strip offering ever?
That’s for you to decide!
Peruse our list below, which features pictures of 33 away strips from Dons history, all in colour.
The away kits below go all the way back to 1979 – with five different Aberdeen kit manufacturers used over the 45-year-plus period.
It has been no mean feat to find colour images of them all in the archives, with some proving tricky to track down due to only being worn in actual matches once or twice.
However, we discovered the magic formula of filtering the search down to away games against Hearts (mainly), Dundee United and Hamilton Accies, and we eventually managed to find them all.
NOTE: This list features away kits. Strips which were only ever third kits are not included.
