Dons defender Shay Logan will not be leaving Pittodrie next month.
Logan, who scored in Saturday’s 4-0 win at Kilmarnock, had been keen to return south of the border to be closer to his three children Kaleb, Milan and Zeplin.
But manager Derek McInnes says the right back will be with the Dons for the remainder of the campaign. The 27-year-old has become a firm favourite with the club’s support since arriving at Pittodrie in January 2014 and
He said: “Shay will be with us until the end of the season. We have had plenty of conversations, he’s extremely happy here and we are happy with him.
“He will be here until the summer. We’ll sit down before the end of the season and see where we are with him.
“He deserves so much credit for the way he’s played this season because he is away from his family.
“He has been a steady, consistent performer for us since we brought him here. Shay was in last season’s team of the year and deservedly so.
“We’re lucky to have him. He’s popular in the dressing room and with the support.
“I’d love to work with him for longer but sometimes it’s not always about football, so we’ll just see how things are in the summer. But he will be here until the end of the season.”
The transfer window opens in less than two weeks but the Aberdeen manager does not expect to do much business during January.
He said: “I don’t anticipate any player who is playing regularly here leaving. As for players coming in, we’re not scrambling to get things done by January 1.
“There are six weeks before it closes so we never know, people may lose form or get injured and we would have to look at things.
“Right now, though, I would expect we’ll be doing little business in January. I have a squad I feel is ready for the demands of the season, not just until the next window.”
