Elgin City’s management team is priming the Black and Whites for a massive promotion push in the next seven games.
A gruelling run of five away and two home fixtures in just 28 days promises to make-or-break the Moray club’s League 2 challenge.
Assistant manager Keith Gibson revealed he and manager Gavin Price had set a points target for City – and believes it is well within their powers to attain it.
A fine first-half display at home to Berwick Rangers paved the way for a valuable three points at the weekend, with Thomas Reilly and Stephen Bronsky on target before Darryl McHardy’s late strike sealed it.
Gibson said: “Our first-half performance was really pleasing and that ultimately won us the match.
“We’ve now got a hard run of games and we will need everyone in the squad to do their bit to take us to where we want to be at the end of the season.
“We’ve now set the players a target for the next seven games to take us where we need to be which is into the play-offs.”
Gibson’s assessment of the performance was honest, though, citing a poor start and less-distinguished second half display while praising players for their reaction to a 4-0 defeat to Edinburgh City in the previous outing.
He said: “In the first 20 minutes we never really created much but, after Thomas’s opening goal, we created some really good chances and put in a performance that was really pleasing.
“It was important getting the result. All credit to the players.”
McHardy’s goal was his first start since the 7-0 festive defeat at Peterhead, with Gibson adding: “It was a professional performance in the second half and we killed it off with a great goal by Darryl.
“I don’t know what he was doing so far up the park but it was a great goal. He will be going on about it for weeks.
“Thomas also scored a great goal for the opener.”
