Elgin appoint Scott to board of directors

Stephen Scott.

Elgin City have appointed Stephen Scott to the board of directors at Borough Briggs.

Scott, who was born in Elgin, has a background as a commercial property lawyer, and is a consultant in the Edinburgh office of Burness Paull solicitors.

In recent years Scott has taken on full ownership of fuel company Gleaner, along with his wife Jane who is the granddaughter of the firm’s founder Robin Young.

Scott is a lifelong Black and Whites fan and has set up the Gullane and Holetown branches of Elgin’s supporters’ club.

Elgin have previously attempted to invite Scott to the club’s board but the 55-year-old feels he can devote the necessary time and energy to the role.

Scott said: “My late father Alex and my uncle Ed started taking me to Borough Briggs when I was a wee boy, and Dad bought me my first season ticket in summer 1968 at the tender age of three going on four.

“As those who know me will attest, I have been hooked on the club ever since.

“Our son Evan said to me when this decision was reached that it would have made Grandad very proud, as he was also an Elgin boy through and through. I agree, and that means the world to me.

“I look forward to working with all the great people on the board in furtherance of the ambitions of the club which we all love.”
