Elgin City will make late decisions on three key players ahead of today’s crucial League 2 match against Stirling Albion.
Defenders Matthew Cooper and Archie Macphee both missed last week’s 3-2 defeat by Clyde with hamstring injuries, while Brian Cameron was out with an achilles injury.
The trio have returned to training this week and Black and Whites manager Jim Weir will make a late assessment on their fitness ahead of the Borough Briggs encounter.
Weir said: “They are still not fully match fit, particularly Archie and Matthew, as Brian has only missed one game. We will have to make a decision on them but if we’re not at full strength we’ll need to go with what we’ve got for what is a really important game.”
Elgin spurned a two-goal lead to lose at Broadwood last weekend, meaning they have now gone nine matches without a victory and are just a point ahead of fifth-placed Montrose.
With City desperate to consolidate their play-off position, Weir is determined to rally his players for what he feels is one of the most vital games of the campaign.
He added: “We are not looking at the negatives, we are trying to focus on the positives. The form of the teams below us has been excellent in the last quarter, while ours has not been.
“At times we have been excellent and deserved to win games over 45 minutes but a game lasts 90 minutes and we’ve not done enough to see it out.
“We’ve suffered twice at the hands of Stirling Albion late on, so we hope to put that right.
“We need the supporters to get right behind the players because this game could make or break our season.
“It’s as important as any game this season and getting the victory would give us the upperhand.”
