Elgin manager Gavin Price admits he is looking for answers after watching his side go down to a heavy defeat away to Edinburgh City on Saturday.

Price said: “Our away form is getting quite concerning and I can’t put my finger on it. We don’t seem to start games mentally right and I don’t know why it is that we seem to be a completely different team than we are at Borough Briggs.

“If that continues it is going to cost us any chance of the play-offs, so we need to sort it out. You can’t legislate for the errors, you can do all you can in preparation and setting teams up but if you get the errors we get today it doesn’t give you a chance. It’s a young back four and keeper and there is no point in them going into their shells. They need to learn from what happened today.”

Price watched as his the Black and Whites were dominated from the start as Edinburgh looked to ease their relegation woes.

The hosts taking the lead 15 minutes in when Craig Beattie scored at the front post.

Elgin’s only chance of note came shortly after the half-hour mark but home defender John Dunn made a last-ditch tackle on substitute Calum Ferguson, who had come on after Ally Sutherland departed the action with an ankle ligament injury.

This was to be as good as it got for Price’s men as they went two down before half-time.

Goalkeeper Brett Long failed to deal with a 30-yard effort from Walker as it bounced off his knee on to the post and into the net.

The game was over within five minutes of the second half as further calamitous defending allowed Gareth Rodger to finish from two yards out from another Walker corner before Farid El Alagui pounced on another Long error to nod the ball into the Elgin net.
