MacLean takes charge at Fort William

Calum MacLean has been confirmed as manager of Fort William on a permanent basis.

MacLean took caretaker charge at the Claggan Park when former manager Danny Conlon stepped down at the beginning of April and the 50-year-old Lochaber painter has impressed in his second spell in charge.

The former Inverness Thistle forward had no hesitation in accepting the opportunity to take on the job on a permanent basis.

He said: “I was previously the Fort manager from 2008 to 2011 and I always fancied another crack at the job.

“I am absolutely delighted and am more than happy to give it another go, as I have enjoyed it immensely since coming back.

“I was offered the job last season but said I would make my decision at the end of the campaign as I wanted to see what the players had in them.

“But it has been fantastic and it was a very easy decision to make for me.”

MacLean has already begun planning for next season by signing 16-year old Glenelg-based goalkeeper Robin Harvey on a 12-month contract.

The teenager was in fine form in the closing weeks of the season.

Oban pair, defender Willie Gemmell and midfielder Keith Millar, have also signed one and two-year deals.

MacLean said: “All I need to do is add a couple of more players to the squad and I will be very happy and raring to go.”
