Have faith in Lossie’s band of brothers

Martin Charlesworth has signed for Lossiemouth.

Martin Charlesworth came off the bench at Harlaw Park on Saturday to earn Lossiemouth a draw from a two-goal deficit for the second week in a row.

The former Deveronvale and Buckie Thistle forward, who won league titles with the Jags in 2010 and 2011, feels the future is bright for the determined Coasters.

Charlesworth said: “The performance against Inverurie Locos was similar to our home game against Huntly. We were playing against good teams but gave them the lead, making it difficult to come back.

“These two results show Lossie for what we’re renowned for – having spirit and a lot of young, athletic players who are mates. They don’t stop.

“We know that, when the chips are down, we will always get a chance.

“It’s been a long month out for me as all too often I pick up niggling injuries.

“Nobody works harder than I do to get back as soon as I can when I am out injured. The goal on Saturday was my reward.”

Charlesworth looks likely to start this Saturday when league leaders Brora Rangers visit Grant Park.

How the home side cope with the task could define the rest of their league campaign, according to Charlesworth.

He added: “The Brora game will be a tough one. I’d imagine we will try to get bodies behind the ball. I have a few friends at Brora. They are probably the best passing side in the league, so I know they’ll try to make us chase shadows.”

Coasters manager Charlie Charlesworth, meanwhile, is happy his call to get back to basics has been heeded by his players.

He said: “I drew a line in the sand a few weeks ago and told the players let’s not lose a game. We’re now beginning to see that.”

The manager is pleased with the form of his side’s leading scorer, 23-year-old midfielder Scott Miller, who has 11 goals this term.

Charlesworth said: “Scott is a great number 10. If we can set up a formation which allows him to play just behind the forward, that is his best position.

“It’s where he can run on to things. His timing is good and he also has a good leap. If we go to a front two we can also play him in midfield and push him on from there.

“Scott is really enjoying his game at the minute, he got his head down over the last year and a half and I’m really pleased he has got into double figures with his goals.

“We just need to keep him focused at all times as he does get quite a few rows from me. We have to keep him concentrated as he is hyper and all for the team.

“He’s a very fit player who does a lot of physical work in his own time, he’s definitely one of the fittest in our team and I’m really pleased for him.”
