Turriff United have sacked manager Ross Jack following the club’s poor start to the Highland League season.

The 58-year-old, who joined United in 2014, won the Aberdeenshire Shield in his first season in charge in 2015 before leading the club to second place, the highest finish in United’s Highland League history, in 2016.

But sustaining the success has proved difficult in recent seasons with United finishing sixth last season.

The club’s struggles have continued, largely in part due to a crippling injury list all season, but with the team languishing in 13th place in the division with only seven wins from 20 matches, Jack was informed his near four-year reign was at an end.

Turriff issued have issued a statement confirming Jack’s departure.

It read: “Turriff United have tonight parted company with manager Ross Jack.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ross for his efforts whilst in charge of the club and wish him well in his future.”

Jack’s assistant Graeme Roy has been place charge on an interim basis until a new manager is appointed.
Roy will be in the dugout for Saturday’s league match against unbeaten leaders Cove Rangers at the Haughs.
