Forres recovered from losing the opening goal to beat Lossiemouth 4-2 in an entertaining North of Scotland Cup match at Grant Park.

Forres’ Lee Fraser’s early header rebounded off the woodwork, before the Coasters took a 20th-minute lead through Shawn Scott.

The home side’s lead did not last for long as Liam Baxter scored on his competitive debut, producing a fine left-footed finish having been set-up by Lee Fraser.

Forres then scored their second goal of the afternoon when Stuart Soane connected with a corner from Simon Allan to power home a header.

The Can-Cans should have gone further ahead in the 37th minute, only for Connor Hall to save a penalty from Soane.

Forres did score again before the break with Lee Fraser heading in a free kick from Duncan Jones.

Lossie reduced the deficit in the 55th minute when Dave Chambers sent in a cross which Scott Miller nodded into the net.

With three minutes remaining Lee Fraser showed great composure to take the ball around Hall and score, to set up a quarter-final against Rothes.

Halkirk held their nerve in a penalty shootout to beat Orkney and earn a North of Scotland Cup quarter-final tie against Inverness after the 90 minutes had finished 1-1.

The visitors took the lead in the 25th minute thanks to a volley from Michael Bremner, only for Orkney to equalise before the break through a cool finish from Thorfinn Stout.

Halkirk then had Scott Davidson sent off for dissent, but the 10 men took the game to a shootout.

Orkney’s Steven Edwards and Graeme Horne missed their penalties, while the away side converted all four of their efforts.
