Formartine United will be looking to avenge last season’s 2-1 home defeat by Turriff United when Ross Jack’s men visit North Lodge Park on Highland League business tonight.

United can close the gap on league leaders Cove with victory against last season’s runners-up.

Formartine manager Kris Hunter said: “The games are coming thick and fast and it is taking a lot out of everyone, with Craig McKeown, Neil McVitie, Stuart Axton and Callum Bagshaw all out injured.

“You don’t get the chance to rotate the squad as much as you would like. It would be good to give a couple of the lads a rest but you just can’t do that.

“On Saturday, when we were a two or three goals ahead at Huntly, we were able to take off a couple of lads off and give them a rest. Graeme Rodger, Stuart Anderson and Scott Barbour will all benefit from that.

“We know that Turriff will be hurting after losing at home to Locos in the Aberdeenshire Shield last Wednesday and going out to a last-minute Broch goal at the Haughs on Saturday but they managed to beat us 2-1 here last term with only 10 men, so we won’t be taking them lightly.”

Turriff manager Jack said: “It is a really tough run of games for us but we will just have to react positively and keep our title challenge going.

“For the trip to Formartine we will have five or six players out, including Jamie Beagrie and Aaron McKenna who picked up injuries in the Scottish Cup game against Fraserburgh at the weekend, and fellow midfielder Andy MacAskill, who is suspended.

“Formartine are going really well and banging in the goals but we don’t fear them. It is a good surface so we will be able to get the ball down and play football.”
