Turriff United attacker Gary McGowan will be an Inverurie Locos player next season after signing a pre-contract agreement on a two-year deal with the Harlaw Park club yesterday.

The former Huntly and Deveronvale forward, however, is content to see out the campaign with United. He said: “My deal at Turriff expires in the summer and I just felt like something closer to home as I stay in Aberdeen.

“I was looking for a fresh challenge and Locos are a great young side but I don’t want to leave Turriff until the end of the season as I still have a contract and a job to do there. It is hard joining a club midway through the season, so my preference would be to stay with Turriff until the end of the season.”

Locos co-manager Scott Buchan said: “We are delighted Gary has chosen to join us. We hope to get a couple more in.”

Locos host bottom club Rothes at Harlaw Park today. The Speysiders are set to hand a debut to new forward Kay Ezekiel, who signed from Lossiemouth United on an 18-month contract this week.

Clach will look to Martin Callum, Gordon Morrison, and Blair Lawrie to supply the firepower against Fort William, who will be without injured teenage goalkeeper Robin Harvey. The Lochaber club’s two recent loan signings, Caley Thistle pair Kane Hull and Stephen Rennie, are set to make their league debut.

Fort last night signed Nairn County attacker John Cameron on a month’s loan.

Forres Mechanics will miss suspended midfielder Ross MacPherson for Buckie Thistle’s visit to Mosset Park.

The Jags welcome back central defenders Lewis MacKinnon and Iain MacRae, both of whom have recovered from hamstring injuries but midfielder Donnie Munro has a knee knock and young forward Kai Ross a dislocated knee cap, which will keep him out for at least a month.

Fraserburgh will miss suspended centre half Ryan Christie and forward Steven Davidson, who has a broken hand for the visit of Turriff United to Bellslea.

On-loan forward Marc Lawrence will make his final appearance for the Broch as the teenager has been recalled by Peterhead.
