Blue Toon back on road to play-offs challenge

Peterhead midfielder Jordon Brown wants victory at East Fife today to start a Blue Toon charge towards the play-offs.

Brown hopes a change of scenery can bring a change of fortune for his side.

The Balmoor men’s disappointing recent home form continued last week when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Alloa to leave Jim McInally’s side with just one point from three home games in a row.

However, Brown is counting on today’s trip to Bayview as a chance to get back to winning ways. Peterhead know how to win on the road. McInally’s men have taken 10 points from a possible 12 in their last four League 1 away outings.

Brown said: “We should take confidence from our away form. We’ve done really well in our recent away games and hopefully that will continue at East Fife.

“There’s a lot of frustration in our dressing-room and we feel we are not getting the rewards for our efforts. We drew with Alloa last weekend but it felt like a defeat after we put so much into the game.”

The Blue Toon find themselves in the unusual position of being just six points off a promotion play-off place and three from a relegation play-off berth and Brown knows his team must get points on the board to move away from the bottom of the table.

He added: “We don’t believe we’re a team which should be struggling in the bottom half of the table and we don’t want to be looking over our shoulders.

“It’s important we put distance between ourselves and the sides below us and we have a chance to do just that at East Fife as we’ll move six points clear of them if we win. We’ve got ground to make up in the play-offs and it is important we get ourselves back on track quickly.

“We’ve got the quality in the squad to go on a run and we know a few wins is all it takes to change the situation quickly in this league.”
