Peterhead could land former Dundee United midfielder Ritchie Ryan on a short-term contract after the 29-year-old asked manager Jim McInally if he could train with the League 1 club.
Ryan, who started his career at Sunderland, had spells at Scunthorpe, Boston United, Royal Antwerp and Sligo Rovers before joining the Tannadice side in November 2011 where he played in 36 games.
After a short spell at Shamrock Rovers the Republic of Ireland-born player joined North American Soccer League club Ottawa Fury where he has become their captain and was recently voted as scoring their Goal of the Season with a free kick against Minnesota Vikings.
Ryan returned to Scotland at the end of the north American season and asked McInally if he could train with his men. The duo are now speaking about a playing role as well.
The Blue Toon manager said: “Ritchie got in touch via a contact and I told him to join us. If we could get a short-term deal sorted out I would be very interested in seeing him in action.”
