Peterhead looking to sign striker

Peterhead manager Jim McInally has not given up on signing another forward before the January transfer window closes.

McInally this week brought in Queen of the South midfielder Kevin Dzierzawski on loan until the end of the season.

The American could make his Blue Toon debut at Brechin City today but McInally says he has the funds to sign one more player.

He said: “In a perfect world we would possibly get in another forward. I’m not saying we are finished but we are happy with what we have done so far.

“Kevin is an energetic player and I’m sure he will enhance us. He likes to get forward from the middle of the park. He is athletic and only 23 but has played a lot for Queen of the South.

“His work permit is up in the summer and he needs to play more regularly. Hopefully, he plays well enough to stay in our team and we can help him out.”

The Blue Toon have impressed recently and are unbeaten in four matches. Brechin, however, have racked up an impressive 13-game unbeaten streak and the Peterhead manager knows his players have their work cut out.

He added: “I’m pleased with our results but the performances can improve.

“We seem to take ages to get going at home and we won’t always get away with that. The one thing that can’t be criticised is our spirit and determination.

“That was what gave us the win against Stirling Albion last week. It will be a good game as Brechin are on a fantastic run.

“We were lucky to get a draw with them at Peterhead. We know what to expect from them.”
