Staggies striker flattered by Hibs interest

Ross County forward Brian Graham is flattered by Hibernian’s interest after confirming the Easter Road club’s manager Neil Lennon asked about his availability.

Lennon watched the attacker score in County’s 3-2 defeat against Alloa Athletic in the Betfred Cup last month.

Staggies manager Jim McIntyre later issued a hands-off warning, with former St Johnstone and Dundee United forward Graham currently County’s leading-scorer with six goals in five games.

Graham remains committed to the Staggies ahead of this weekend’s Premiership visit of Kilmarnock and said: “The link with Hibs hasn’t been a distraction – it is a compliment.

“I think Hibs have contacted Ross County but I’m not sure what the latest situation is, I just need to concentrate on Saturday and the game against Kilmarnock.

“There hasn’t been a decision for me to make and there hasn’t been anything put in front of me. I know the two clubs did speak but I am just focusing on my football and I’m happy I’ve started the season well.

“These things can happen and players get linked with here, there and everywhere. Who knows what is going to happen tomorrow? I just need to take things as they come.”

Should he remain in Dingwall, Graham faces competition for a starting spot with Liam Boyce, who is fresh from bagging a hat-trick in County’s 3-2 win against Inverness last Saturday, and knows all about the abilities of Alex Schalk and Craig Curran.

Graham added: “The team was excellent against Inverness and it was brilliant to get the Highland derby win.”

“It is not just Liam, there are four great forwards at Ross County and any one of us could play on the day.

“From Monday to Friday we need to train well and work as hard as we can and it is up to the manager to make the decision.”
