Dutch striker Alex Schalk has yet to decide on where his future lies – but he will not be remaining with Ross County.
Schalk’s contract expired at the end of the season following County’s relegation from the Premiership after nearly three seasons with the Staggies in which he netted 30 goals in 105 appearances.
County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell confirmed Schalk is weighing up options in the Scottish Premiership and abroad with Aberdeen linked with a move for the former NAC Breda and Go Ahead Eagles attacker.
Kettlewell confirmed the door has been closed on the 25-year-old returning to Dingwall.
He said: “Alex will be moving on. Alex has ambition to play outwith Scotland’s Championship, whether it be Premiership in Scotland or potentially abroad.
“There’s no clear indication as to where he’ll be going but we can confirm it definitely won’t be here.”
Another player who will not be at County next season is English defender Andrew Davies, who joined Hartlepool United earlier this week.
Kettlewell hailed the impact of the 33-year-old Davies, who has been replaced as club captain by Marcus Fraser.
Kettlewell added: “Someone like Andrew will be a loss.
“He’s been a fantastic servant to this football club.
“He has achieved a lot as captain of the club, lifting the League Cup. He did fantastically well here.
“I’d also like to stress how easy he has been to work with through this whole process. We had an indication from very early on this might have been the outcome.
“It was very amicable and Steven Ferguson and myself have nothing but respect for how he has dealt with it.
“He has a situation where he needs to be closer to his family and we respected that. The club also helped him out in the process at the end of last season.
“People were asking questions about where he was and what he was doing but sometimes there are issues outwith football that are more important – and we respected that with Andrew.
“We wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter in football.”
