Stuart Kettlewell vows Ross County’s signing policy has changed ahead of Premiership return

Stuart Kettlewell insists a new Ross County will return to the Premiership next season after claiming the club’s signing policy has changed.

The Championship winners are making plans for their return to the top-flight in August but County co-bosses Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson plan on doing things differently.

He said: “We won’t be what Ross County has been in the past. Everyone speaks about the budget and the resources here but we have spoken to the chairman and we have to build a more sustainable model.

“It is up to Steven and myself to work within those boundaries and we are happy to do so. It is not a problem for us and as I say we feel we have a lot of experience and ability to play in the Premiership.

“We will have to add in one or two new faces to freshen the team up a little but we’re in a good place just now.

“We’ve spoken to every single player. Winning the league last week gave us an opportunity to do that and we’re a step ahead. We’re very proactive but we genuinely believe we have a good squad here and when everyone is fit we can go and compete in the Premiership.”

Kettlewell says lessons have been learned from the co-managers’s brief stint in charge of the first team last season.

The rookie managers were unable to save County from relegation but Kettlewell is confident the Championship winners can compete in the Premiership.

He said: “It was an eye-opener last season for the 10 games we had as two young managers when unfortunately we were unable to keep the club up.

“We’ve learned so much from that and this season and Steven and I have taken so much from the last 12 months.

“But we’re looking forward now. We’ve stripped things back here and created something which we wanted. We have created a culture and we have to take that togetherness into the Premiership.

“For a club like Ross County that is what we need to give ourselves a chance. We are not going to go and outplay Celtic or Rangers by dominating the ball.

“We have to find a different way of doing so which will mean changing the way we have done things in the Championship this season.”
