Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson hopes last night’s 2-1 win over Hibernian can inject fresh belief into the Staggies.

County ended a nine-game winless streak at Victoria Park, with Ross Stewart’s second half double helping them come from behind following Christian Doidge’s opener.

Ferguson hopes the result can be a timely lift for the Staggies, who are now six points clear of the foot of the Premiership.

Ferguson said: “It’s one game of football – but what it does is gives the players that belief again that they are a good group and they can win games of football in the Premiership.”

Hibs took a deserved lead on 35 minutes when Doidge’s header from Scott Allan’s free-kick squirmed through the grasp of Nathan Baxter, who initially looked to be equal to the effort.

County were vastly improved after the break however, with Stewart pulling the Dingwall men level when he headed home a deep Josh Mullin delivery.

The turnaround was complete 10 minutes later, when Paul Hanlon failed to cut out Michael Gardyne’s cross, allowing Stewart to nip in and head home the loose ball.

The result returns County to seventh, with Hibs defeated for the first time under Jack Ross.
