Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell does not plan to make any further additions in the final month of the summer transfer window.

The transfer deadline for Scottish sides was put back to October 5 this year, in order to give clubs more time to prepare their squads amidst the coronavirus crisis.

Kettlewell was quick to bolster his squad during the summer, with six new arrivals at Dingwall prior to the start of the campaign.

Defenders Connor Randall, Alex Iacovitti and Carl Tremarco were drafted in, along with goalkeeper Ross Doohan and midfielders Stephen Kelly and Regan Charles-Cook.

Kettlewell has reiterated his contentment with the squad he has at his disposal, and does not expect any further arrivals in the next month.

He said: “We managed to get Ross Doohan in before the first game against Motherwell and I said then that I had no intentions of bringing anybody else in to the football club.

“I was happy with what I had and I believed that I could go and make a good fist of it with the guys and the options that I had.

“There’s certainly no urgency for me to go out there scouting for new players. I see a real value in having that nucleus early and working with the team to build a philosophy and an identity.

“We’ve got who I believe are the right guys into the football club, and you live and die by that.”

Celtic’s James Forrest tries to go round Ross County goalkeeper Ross Doohan during a pre-season friendly match.

Kettlewell says circumstances could change if players are unsatisfied with the game time they are getting.

He added: “There may be one or two changes if players are unsettled with the amount of game time they’re getting. Then we might have to look at something else, but as I see it just now I’m not going to bring anybody else in.”

On-loan Rangers midfielder Kelly has found opportunities hard to come by so far, having made just two substitute appearances.

Kettlewell has urged the Scotland under-21 international, who spent last season on loan at Ayr United, to bide his time.

He added: “Sometimes you are going to have to be patient.

“It’s not necessarily that you’re doing anything wrong, it just may be that some players suit particular games.

“I have told Stephen that personally, and I’ve had a conversation with Rangers, that there is no reservation with me playing him.

“I wouldn’t have fought tooth and nail to try and get him to the club if that was the case. Stephen needs to make sure he’s ready to take his chance.”
