Ross County midfielder Raffaele De Vita has won the Premiership Player of the Month award for March.

De Vita has been instrumental in County’s recent resurgence, having started every game since making a goalscoring debut in February’s 3-2 win against Motherwell which set the Staggies on their current run of seven wins from eight matches.

Although the Italian was not on the scoresheet in March, he impressed throughout the month and grabbed two crucial assists in the 2-2 draw against Hamilton in which the Dingwall side recovered from a two-goal deficit to claim a point.

The 27 year-old, who has netted three times for the club, joins manager Jim McIntyre in being recognised for his impact in March, with McIntyre scooping his second consecutive Manager of the Month award on Friday.

De Vita admits he did not expect to have go on such a great run when he joined a team that found itself six points adrift at the foot of the Premiership when he joined from Cheltenham Town in late-January.

De Vita said: “I am 100 per cent surprised at how well it’s gone. Even if I had been positive I couldn’t have thought we could go on such a good run.

“This award is a credit to everyone because we’ve been on a fantastic run and no-one really expected it even though we’ve worked so hard to start picking up points and turn the situation around.

“I feel I’ve been part of a team that’s been in great form and I am happy to be part of the mix of a group of boys who are doing really well.

“It’s not been easy because we have a massive squad and when I signed I realised there was a lot of competition and I am happy that I’ve played in pretty much every game and contributed with a few goals and a few assists.”
