Ross County: Jamie Reckford insists complacency will be punished

Jamie Reckord insists any hint of complacency will be punished by bottom-of-the-table Partick Thistle today as Ross County aim for three points and five games unbeaten.

The Staggies’ left back knows the Maryhill men have toiled in the manner County themselves did at the outset last season.

Factoring in a League Cup exit to Falkirk, Alan Archibald’s men have gone eight games without a win this season, scoring in only one of those outings.

For Reckord, the former Wolves and England under-17s defender, those statistics were an irrelevance ahead of the Victoria Park game.

He said: “In this league anyone can beat anyone and position in the table doesn’t really matter.

“If we go into the match in any way thinking it is going to be an easy game, we will get turned over.

“You have to stay professional, focused and get the job done.

“We’ve started the season quite well and, hopefully, on Saturday we can keep the momentum going and take three points.”

County’s early form has been good, with four wins and two draws in eight games.

At the base of that has been solid defensive foundations, with centre halves Andrew Davies and Chris Robertson commanding and Reckord and Marcus Fraser imposing figures in the full-back positions.

Reckord said: “We’ve looked solid. Our two new centre halves have done well and Marcus, at right back, has also been excellent.

“We’re happy but just focusing on taking it a game at a time and collecting as many points as we can.

“On an individual level, you have to keep pushing yourself all the time as we have quality players ready to step into the team.

“Scott Boyd is on the bench and Marcus and I know a player of the quality of Richard Foster is pressing us for places.

“He’s very experienced, having played at the top level, and he is a great lad to have around the club. We can learn from him.

“I had an injury in the summer and that knocked me back a bit. I missed a bit of pre-season and the opening matches. I had to work hard to get back in the team but I did that and everything is going well.

“If you compare it to last season, we’re off to a flier.”
