10 deadline day transfer deals to keep an eye on

The transfer window is set to slam shut in just a matter of hours. In England, proceedings will come to a halt at 11pm –  while in Scotland, all business should be finalised by midnight.

With not long left, teams are still scrambling to conclude last minute deals, with some big names yet to find out where they will be plying their trade next year.

Here are 10 deadline day transfer deals to keep an eye on…

Jozo Simunovic (Celtic)

Celtic are set to recoup the cash splashed on Jozo Simunovic as the Croatian defender closes in on a move to Serie A side Torino.

He will join a new look side that includes England goalkeeper and Manchester City reject Joe Hart.

Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)

With Joe Hart sent out on loan to Torino and Wilshere excluded from England’s squad to face Slovakia, it seems the mighty have indeed fallen.

Expect Wilshere to leave on loan in a bid to secure more playing time with Serie A or a mid-level Premier League side being the likely destinations.

Marvin Johnson (Motherwell)

The tricky Motherwell winger has begged the club not to stand in his way as he seeks a move away from Fir Park in the final hours of the window.

A move south seems to be on the cards with a number of suitors reportedly interested.

Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)

The end of Liverpool’s £16million gamble on the Italian striker is surely in sight. With just four goals in 28 appearances since his move from AC Milan in 2014, Super Mario looks certain to move elsewhere.

Unfortunately a rumoured move to minnows Port Vale now looks significantly less likely than a last minute deal taking him to Nice or Palermo.

Charlie Mulgrew (Unattached)

Charlie Mulgrew has been one of the big talking points for fans of Scottish football and the will-he-or-won’t-he (re-sign for Celtic) saga seems to finally be over.

He now looks set to sign a contract with Blackburn Rovers after leaving Celtic in the summer.

Philippe Senderos (Unattached)

The former Arsenal defender and Swiss international has been training with Rangers in a bid to secure a contract.

Although this one doesn’t technically need to be secured before the window closes, fans at Ibrox are getting tired of waiting and rumours suggest the deal could be done any time now.

Samir Nasri (Manchester City)

Nasri is another player who appears destined to be on the outside looking in at Pep Guardiola’s brave new world at Manchester City.

He still has a fine reputation though and if City don’t want him, a number of others will.

Most likely destinations seem to be Sevilla or Besiktas.

Caley Thistle to sign two

Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran hopes to add two new faces to his squad before the transfer window closes.

Foran celebrated his first league win as Inverness manager on Saturday as Josh Meekings’ dramatic injury-time goal gave the Highlanders a 2-1 victory against St Johnstone at Caledonian Stadium.

However, Foran wants more competition at the club and hopes he can provide it before the window closes.

Moussa Sissoko (Newcastle United)

The 27-year-old Frenchman had a fantastic Euro 2016 and looks too good a player to stay with Newcastle and fight it out for promotion.

A number of top flight sides are interested in securing his services but no firm offers have yet materialised.

That could have something to do with the £35million price tag – but with moneybags teams such as Juventus, Inter Milan and Arsenal reportedly interested, a deadline day flourish could see a big-money move go through.

Aberdeen to sign a midfielder

The Dons are on the lookout for a midfield ace to fill the void left by injured captain Ryan Jack.

The Press and Journal revealed this morning that Derek McInnes will not be making a move for former Rangers man Jamie Ness but expect another name to join the ranks at Pittodrie before the day is done.
